Best way to handle partial payments

I want to be able to offer an installment plan for my event. What’s the best way to handle this so the email confirmation they get shows the correct amount due? I have two ticket types available, one is a pay in full amount and the other is an installment plan where the payments are broken up into 5 payments. The first one is treated as a deposit and then I’ll invoice them each month for the remaining due. How do I get the confirmation pay to reflect that? This is my first time working with Event Espresso.

Hi there,

At this time Event Espresso does not officially support partial payments, its possible to do but requires some additional admin work.

You have a couple of options available for partial payments:

1. Have the user register onto the full price ticket and select an offline payment method such as Invoice to finalize the registration. You would then need to handle the payments outside of Event Espresso and manually apply the payments to the transaction in the admin. The user can then make the last payment thought EE using a link in the payment reminder email which EE can send.

2. Have the user register onto a ‘deposit’ ticket and they can pay directly through Event Espresso for that ticket, the admin can then move the registration onto another ticket prices at 2 x the deposit ticket and request payment (EE will calculate the remaining from the original payment and new ticket price) and have they user pay again. Repeat until full payment is complete.

The problem with #2 is the tickets need to be created on the event for you to move them onto, so your event will show a ‘Full payment’ ticket and then 5 ‘deposit’ tickets and also each time the user pays they will receive a ‘Registration Approved’ message which may be confusing.
