We have gone live with class registrations. We saved spaces in some classes for mailed in paperwork, so if there are 12 spaces, I only put 8 online. I want to enter the paper registrations into the system, but if I try to add through the admin panel, it crashes and I get this warning:

I know the system will let me overbook a full class if I move them over with the beta waitlist plugin. But I don’t want them to get the waitlist email confirmation if I put them on the waitlist to move them to confirmed.
I want to keep all the classes online and visible to people, because not all the classes are full, so I don’t want to move the class to draft, or put in a registration date closure prior to now – I want to still collect waitlist names.
What is the best procedure to add these names to the class list?
I’m using EE 3.1.36 and WordPress 3.7.1.

Hi Margaret,
I’ve created a ticket to have the error looked into so that admins can ‘overbook’ events.
As a work around until this is fixed you could +1 the Attendee limit for the event. (From within the event, look in event options in the side bar. You’ll find ‘Attendee Limit’)
Add 1 to this number for each attendee that you will be adding and then update the event. This will allow you to add the attendees from the admin.
The problem here is that registration will be available for an attendee through the front end of the site also. So I would recommend only upping this by 1 each time, adding the attendee and then repeat.
Whilst not ideal it is a workaround to allow you to add attendees until fixed.

I ended up closing registration for the particular class, then increasing the class limit and adding the new students. It is too big of a risk to overbook.
