I’m trying to see if it is possible set up the following and I’m not sure if I am approaching it the right way:

We have a single event with one ticket price with the possibility of group bookings. We also want to sell single time slots (with therapists). Typical booking is:

2 admission tickets (2x£25) +
Person 1
1 slot with Therapist1 at 10am (£35)
1 slot with Therapist2 at 3pm (£40)
Person 2
1 slot with Therapist1 at 1pm (£35)

The slots are exclusive so the 10am slot with therapist1 can only be booked by one person.

I am trying to do this using questions with price modifiers for the therapists with a max limit of 1. My questions are
1) What happens when the slot is booked – documentation suggests it should stop appearing on the drop down if max limit is reached, but it still appears on subsequent registration page displays.
2) Can I get the details of the requested slots displayed on the confirmation page for primary AND additional people?
3) Am I going about this the right way? I read on the support pages about creating multiple events to handle this sort of thing.

4) I have downloaded the Lite version too 3.1.36.5.L as a pre-purchase test install. It displays the group booking differently, offering a Number Of Tickets dropdown instead of “Add an Attendee +” button. How can I influence which appears?

I think EE4 will do this more prettily but we need Realex gateway so I believe we must go with EE3 for the timebeing?

Thanks for any help in advance

All the best
E

Hi, Event Espresso does not generally work well for bookings / appointments. However, I think it can work for your project as you’ll only need to track a handful of sessions per day.

I also think that Event Espresso 4 would be needed so that you can assign quantities available for each session.

Payments via Realex are available via Mijireh which works as a payment gateway connector.

They also handle securing your checkout page. Here is a brief video that explains how Mijireh works:

We also have documentation available on creating a new payment gateway for Event Espresso 4:

Hi Lorenzo

Thanks for the reply.

The event is a charity one so we have to keep costs down to a minimum here, so I’m not sure if we can justify Mijireh or the developer resource to create a new payment gateway. Tho Mijireh is pretty cheap.

I think I might have just managed to get it to work using questions, but it’s not terribly robust – not the product’s fault, more how I’ve implemented it.

Can I add extra details to the confirmation page – I would like to display the question answers for the additional attendees too?

Hi, that information is not shown on the thank you page. However, the attendee/registrant will be able to download a receipt that includes that information. This link is included on the thank you page.

Additionally, they are sent a copy of their registration records.

If a registrant accidentally deletes this email, then you can resend it via the WP dashboard.
