Is it possible to have a user only able to view/check-in attendees for their own event using the [ESPRESSO_BARCODE_SCANNER] on the front-end? Currently, it shows all events to all users and not just event authors.

Yes you can. There’s a filter hook that allows setting the front end scanner to use the same capability checks as the admin side barcode scanner.
