I currently have version 4.10.46.p installed, and would like to upgrade to the latest version 5.0.7.p, after not making any upgrades or updates for a while.
In the past, the option to do so was available through the wordpress dashboard, but now it is not, and I see a message saying:
Your support license key is only valid for one domain at a time, and our licensing system has detected that you are using your license key on multiple domains. Please log in to your Event Espresso account to manage your Support License Keys, or if you have concerns, please Contact Us.
It is important to note that I DO NOT have EE installed on more than one domain with my license key. I DID, however, create a staging version of the site (as provided by our host) to make changes to an offline version and then deploy, so a version of the site also exsist at “staging<number>.mydomain.org”
This warning, however, shows ON THE MAIN SITE, at the domain as it is set in the EE account control pane, and I cannot automatically upgrade it on the live site either!
The staging site is actually another ‘domain’ and so flags up on the system, we are looking into improving the license system to allow for staging sites better (We currently do support staging. but it need to match exactly).
Think of the key as being used for a single site.
The live and staging sites are 2 separate sites so they flag up on the system. You can either remove the key and update manually on the staging site (that allows you to test updates on staging and run the one-click update on live) or, if your staging sites allow you to update and push the changes from staging to live, add the key to the staging site only and use the one-click updates there, then push those changes live.
I’ve reset your license key to remove the notice, but you will need to remove the key from one of those sites to prevent it from happening again.
