My client cancelled an event that had 20 people who paid for it. Is there yet a way to automate the refunds, or is it still a 2-step procedure (e.g. step 1 in EE and step 2 going to the payment gateway and manually issuing a refund)

Hi Lawrence,
It is still a 2 step process.
One problem with doing this automatically is not all payment merchants support it, some allow specific refunds, some allow all refunds and some just don’t allow any.
We do have a ticket to investigate automating refunds a little more in a future version of Event Espresso but we are currently working on other features within the plugin.

Thank you. I refunded everyone manually. It took about 90 seconds per person, which was not so bad, but since it is billable time, the client would probably like to have another solution in place. Perhaps you could investigate this type of feature on the biggest payment services first, and then expand from there.

Sure, but what about when the user has Payment Method A and Payment Method B, then refunds all from an event that uses both?
It sounds simple at first but there’s much more to it in the end, we’d need some form of UI to present the above to the admin for a start and so on with the ability to confirm which payments were actually refunded in a batch. I’m not saying it not possible to do, just there’s more to it than it seems and just enabling refunds within a specific payment method itself isn’t going to work.
