We recently started using the Automated Post Event notification emails, after spending some considerable time customizing the email template wording we wanted to use for our specific customers and courses. But the emails appear to be being sent to the customers repeatedly. The setting is for notifications at 3 days Post event. Those first emails were sent. Then 3 hours later, they were sent again. Then in another 3 hours, sent again. And so on and so on. We are now into 3 days of repeated notifications that the emails have been sent, it appears to be every 3 hours, and we are now at the point where I have to disappointingly stop using this plug in until this is resolved. All other email notifications (registrations, payments, etc) work flawlessly. |

Our configuration: We were using the default (WP-CRON) email configuration. To resolve this we re-activated WP MAIL SMTP, and set it up for “Other SMTP” mail sending. We do not have logging on, as we are not Premium, but the test emails send fine. And apparently the EE Post Event notifications send fine, too. Every three hours. Any ideas on a solution? |

Hi there, Apologies for the delayed reply, I spent some time looking into this to confirm how messages are triggered and prevented from sending multiple times. The Automated Post Notification Emails set a meta key within the database to say they have been processed and to skip those emails the next time the cron schedule runs, so for the above to happen, either that value isn’t being set on your site… OR the emails are sitting in the send queue and when they actually do send they aren’t being marked as sent, so repeatedly send. I would assume the latter would also show issues for other emails sent by Event Espresso if that was the case, so for now, we’ll focus on the meta value. How are you setting up your Post notifications? Are you using a custom template assigned specifically on the event or the ‘Global’ template? I’m going to set up a new test site to replicate your settings and see if I can reproduce this, if I can its much easier to troubleshoot. |

Hi Tony, Yes, I forgot to mention, this is a custom email template that keeps getting repeatedly sent. I had not tried the Global template on this particular event. In fact, the whole reason why I wanted to use this feature is to send out specific, customized information to customers who take a particular type of event. I did not want to alter the Global version. Since no other emails have this repeat issue, just this Post Event one, it must be specific to the custom template implementation for this particular email. Thanks for narrowing it down, I am happy to give you access to my site to further diagnose. |

No need, I’ve found the problem. Currently working on a fix and will push an update once confirmed and tested 🙂 |
