We want to be able to send a message to all participants about 2-3 days before an event and I’m not sure how to set this up with EE4. Ideally we would like to schedule this email’s content when we create an event, and then update the email if we need to add things like location/parking details, and then have the email send something like 48 hours before the event with details.

This feature isn’t currently available. It is something that you will be able to do when we migrate MailChimp from EE3 to EE4. We are working on that, however, I do not have an ETA at this time.
