I have just purchased a new support licence, the plugin will not upgrade and says I have an invalid licence. I am still gewtting this bug and need to add an event urgently. TO re-iterate if I add a venue or event is is always saved as “Auto Draft”. Hwlp me now please. |
Hi Robert, I have reset your license key. You’ll need to go to Event Espresso -> General Settings. Remove the license key (cut), save the settings, replace the key (paste) and save the settings once more. Be sure to check for whitespace before/after the key before saving. You will also receive an email with these instructions. When creating events/venues are you adding a title before saving? Auto draf should only happen if the event is saved without a title. |

Thanks, very fast service. Once I upgradecd I can now add a title and everything works. I have to say calling it a support licence is not fair imo, without a licence the plugin is useless so why not be clear and call it a “yearly licence”? |
You’re most welcome, Robert. The support license has no effect on Event Espressos functionality. Well actually no that’s not true, Event Espresso will display a notice that your license is no longer valid but the plugin continues to work in exactly the same way it would without the license. The license entitles you to support and updates for 1 year, after the year is up you can continue to use the current version of Event Espresso you have installed. If you need further support or updates to use newer features included within EE you can renew your license to once again receive updates and support for 1 year. Can I ask what is it about the above you find unfair? |

I had not used the plugin for a few months, when I tried to add a new venue or event there was no title field on the edit screen. That was a bug surely? Because my licence had expired I could not ask you and get help. Neither could I upgrade. Once I paid and got a new key and upgrade everything worked again. This could be seen as a “bit of a con” as we say here in England. Does anyone at EE know why this happened? I sa other users posting with the same problem. |
I’m based in England so know that phrase well, I can’t see how it applies here. Whilst I do understand how you could perceive this as a bug within Event Espresso it was actually due to changes within WordPress core that caused this, WP 4.2 ‘changed things up’ within core and changed how they loaded the admin which effected the pages mentioned within EE. Unfortunately we (Event Espresso) have no control over the changes made within WP, we can only update EE to keep up with any changes being made. I checked on your account and can see your previous license expired June 5 2015 and the previous version of Event Espresso you had installed was 4.6.14 the fixes for those WordPress 4.2+ issues were introduced within 4.6.16 which was released Mar 19, 2015 (before WP 4.2 was released) whilst your previous license was active. So had you kept Event Espresso updated with your previous license you would not have ran into this situation. We do not force auto updates onto your site but simply show a notice when updates are available so you can update at your convenience. Had you have contacted us with this query before purchasing your new license (via the Pre-sales forum or through our contact us page for example) the advice given would have been the same in this instance, to purchase a license and update to the latest version. The WP security fixes that were introduced in 4.2+ were also back ported to 4.1 so it would have been possible to continue to use an older version of WP to continue to use the current version of EE you had although this isn’t recommended. |
