Hi, I wanted to give each of my teachers access to their own class registers via the EE4 app. To achieve this I set up an email alias in my Gmail for each teacher, then created a user account in WP for each email alias and designated each user as an author. Then, each time I set up an event for a specific teacher I designated the teacher’s username as an author. I did this for the first time last term and all seems to go well. However, I’m about to list next term’s events and now the teachers’ usernames are no longer visible in the Author dropdown when editing or adding an event in EE4. On a standard WP post, all authors are showing though, so it seems there is something particular to EE4. Could you give me any pointers about why they might not be showing? Thanks, Brooke |

Hi Brooke, So the odd part from the above is this:
Because the Authors section in the EE event editor is actually a WordPress function, not one from Event Espresso. Basically, we say that our EE event post type support ‘authors’ and WordPress adds that meta box into the editor for us with the dropdown of authors. Do you know which version of EE4 you were using last year at all? I’ll create a ticket to investigate this further. Currently, you’ll need to add the Install a plugin such as User Role Editor and activate it. Then go to Tools -> User Role Editor. Select the role in the dropdown at the top (I assume its ‘Author’). Add the 2 capabilities I mentioned above to the role and click Update: https://monosnap.com/file/3KKrsnhwvqHhF9oIKOwTPLgLXoYzJe It will ask you to confirm, click yes. Then refresh the event editor and check the author’s section, does it now show you the authors you expected it to? |

Thanks for your help, Adding the ee_edit_event and ee_edit_events capabilities has fixed the issue, all the authors now show. I’m sorry, but I don’t have a record of which version I was using. However, the last event I published (when authors showed correctly) was 13 Dec and I tend to update plugins within a couple of weeks of them being released. I hope that helps. Thanks, Brooke |

Great 🙂 thanks for the update.
If you have a second to check, that info is saved in your EE data. Go to Event Espresso -> Maintenance -> System Information. Use your browser to search for ‘ee activation history’ and it will show you the versions you updated to and the dates the update was done. Right now it looks like a change within how WordPress pulls in the authors as I can’t reproduce but will do some digging to confirm. |

Sorry for the slow reply, I followed your instructions:
I wasn’t sure if this was helpful and I took a screenshot showing the most recent dates so you could see it for yourself on this link. |

That’s great, thank you 🙂 |
