Hi,

When I use the export attendee lists, the phone numbers are not as in the database. Here is the output
Phone Mobile Phone Number
1604457210 7812503321
4.41605E+11 07964 532213
1536357836 7975749935
01604 715577 07901 600588
01933 397702 7950515632
01604 718098 no
4.41605E+11 4.41605E+11

The mobile phone number is configured as the phone number. I’m viewing this through excel. The numbers starting with 4.4 appear to have the international dialing code. For example, the number entered is 441604718098. The numbers that don’t start with a zero (other than the international dialing codes) should have a zero as the zero appears in the espresso screens. For example 07845728292 is stored in the Db but 7950515632 is contained in the export.

This is quite urgent as it is impacting our live site.

Thanks

Dave

Just a bystander here.. but i’d highlight the cells and make sure they are marked as “General” under Format Cell menu.. the E+11 … sounds like it’s trying to run a calculation on your numbers

Thanks for your comment. I agree but I would expect the data to be exported in the correct formatting for display. I’m creating the website for a customer who wouldn;t know how to reformat the cells. They just want a report of their data.

Hi Ray,

It is Excel that is altering the formatting, not Event Espresso. There is no encoding within the CSV it is simply the values stored within the database separated using commas.

We could wrap the number within double quotes to prevent this, as this forces Excel to display the number as text. However the CSV is intended to be used for more than just Excel so this brings other problems.

If you open up the CSV using something like Sumblime Text or even Notepad, you’ll find the number correctly stored within the file.

I have created a ticket for this to be discussed and possible solutions.
