Hi Support, Anyway the page where I have my Event listing shortcode ([ESPRESSO_EVENTS limit=”5″]) is showing up as Event Archive. How can i resolve this issue? I have already check that the template is set to default, so that is not the issue. Anyway help will be appreciated. |

Just to also add..If I change my slug to something other than “/events” the issue seems to be fix/working as it should – If the fix is not a easy one I suppose I can change my page slug to avoid this problem; however I am still interested in what you have to say is the cause or possible solution. |

Hi, Perhaps I’m not fully understanding you, but if you add [ESPRESSO_EVENTS limit=”5″] to a page, then a default theme will use the page.php template file. Viewing yoursite.com/events/ will use the archive.php template file. Changing the events slug should not affect which template file the shortcode uses, because it is still on a page. |

Hi Dean, |

I guess my question is why is mysite/events is using the archive template? I thought that page is naturally where I should use the shortcode to display “all events”. Please help, maybe I have got this all wrong, so your insight would be appreciated as all I needed to do was to have /events showing a list of all my events – preferrably not on a archive page |

Ahhh I see, so you have a page called events? If so, then what’s happening is the Event Espresso custom post type “events” is over ruling the page as the slug is the same (both are /events). You won’t be seeing the page, instead you are seeing the archive. Even if you deleted the page called events, you could still go to mysite/events and see a list of events. Does that make sense? So you would need to either change the page slug or the custom post type slug, so that they are both different. Unless you need to modify how the events are listed vis the shortcode, you can easily do away with the page. Page slug is easiest to change, but changing the custom post type slug is not hard either: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/change-events-cpt-slug/ Let me know if you need any clarification or have other questions regarding this issue. |

Hi Dean, |

No problem! Is there anything else I can help with regarding this topic or may I resolve and close it? |

This is now resolved and thanks for the support. |
Hello again, I wanted to let you know that there is an enhancement for this that is now available in the current version of Event Espresso 4. You no longer need to use the filter that is mentioned in the link below to change the events custom post type slug: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/change-events-cpt-slug/ Instead, you can remove that filter if it is currently in place. Then login to your WordPress dashboard and go to Event Espresso –> Events –> Templates. Then scroll to the Event Listing area and you’ll see an option to specify your slug for the espresso_events custom post type. Here is an example of what it looks like: http://cl.ly/image/0W3V2L1p1d1q Note that the option above is available in the current version of Event Espresso 4. If you are running an older version of Event Espresso 4, then please see the steps below for how to upgrade to the current version. Steps for upgrading Event Espresso 4 First, please backup your WordPress site. Then upgrade to the latest version of Event Espresso 4. You can see the changelog for Event Espresso 4 here: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/ee4-changelog/ — |
