September 25, 2023 at 11:05 am Hi there, Can I take a look at this? I’ll need both WP-Admin and FTP credentials to investigate if possible. If that’s ok you can send them over using this form: |
September 25, 2023 at 11:44 am I have just send wp-admin credentials. |
I’ll need FTP credentials to fix this on your site. I did some digging and have found the code causing this so created a ticket to have it fixed within the next update to Event Espresso. I can apply the fix directly on your site so that it stops the above issue or if you’d like to wait for the next update we have a couple of tickets under review and will push a release that includes a fix relatively soon. |
Hello Tony, I just sent you FTP details. |
Thank you, unfortunately, I just get a timeout every time I try to connect. Can you recheck those credentials? I’ve emailed you my IP address in case the host blocks IP’s from the UK, they may need to whitelist it. |

September 26, 2023 at 12:34 pm I have tested the fix that you uploaded, and for what I can see I don’t get any error messages anymore. Thank you for your help. |
Awesome, thank you for confirming. The fix I applied on your site will also be included within the next update to Event Espresso. |
Ok, thank you for the confirmation. So I do not need to do anything with the next update. The files will be automatically overwritten with the new ones? |

September 27, 2023 at 10:48 am You don’t need to do anything. When you update a plugin in WordPress it basically deletes all of the current version and extracts the new version in its place. Which means if we did NOT have fix in the next update, you would lose it, but as we do you’ll see no difference. |

September 27, 2023 at 12:46 pm Hello Tony, I don’t know if it has something to do with the fix that you did yesterday. But this morning I saw for the first time that messages are not generated anymore (they stay black) and so are also not send. If I manually trigger them to generate and send, it works without any problem. This morning I thought that it was a one time issue, but when I just checked I see that the messages are still not send. I never had this issue before. I contacted the hosterd who checked the sendmail, but everything seems to be normal. Thank you to check. |
That’s not going to be related to the changes I made. Can you install this plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-crontrol/ Then go to Tools -> Cron events. Do you see anything at the top of the page showing WP_CRON at all? |
Hello Tony, thank you for this tip. After investigating the issue I have the problem. Apparently it was Wordfence firewall that was blocking the cron events. Apparently the site went in some kind of lock mode after different login attempts from outside Europe. Thank you for your help. |
Ah, awesome! I’m glad you found the problem. Thank you for the update, that’s something I can advise others to check on if they run into the same issue. |
