App Issue: Connection error. Unable to load data

I am unable to use the check-in feature of the app all of the sudden. I have used it without issue for a while now, and started failing a week ago.

When I click the attendee’s name for check-in it reads Connection error. Unable to load data.

I have already checked json page and no error was given.

I also deactivated all plugins except for EE, and activated default theme. Still not working.

If you can add the steps you are taking on the app itself and the name of an event/attendee I can try checking in to test it.

I sent you those details. We primarily use Android.

The steps we take on the app are: Enter app. Select event. Click Attendees tab. Click radial button corresponding to attendee needing to be checked in. See error pop up. Get sad.

Hi there,

I’ve emailed you directly with some additional details on this but adding some details for any future readers.

The issue here is being caused by GoDaddy’s Firewall now blocking the requests, listing them as ‘fake bot access’. We can’t control that on our end so GoDaddy will need to add an exception for those requests to the site.

Unfortunately, I’m not aware of a way to spot this from your site/GoDaddy control panel. I used a reverse proxy locally to view the request to/from the app which showed this:
