Hello, I have gone through the recommended settings and changes found in other posts, but my iOS app version 2.6.3 is still crashing when it tries to load a list of events.

I have verified permissions, added the proper htaccess code, verified WP_DEBUG is set to false, and installed REST API. Here’s what it still says:

{
“data”: {
“code”: “rest_events_cannot_list”,
“message”: “Sorry, you are not allowed to list events. Missing permissions: ee_read_events,ee_read_others_events,ee_read_private_events”,
“data”: {
“status”: 403
}
},
“headers”: {
“Allow”: “GET, POST”
},
“status”: 403
}

Hi there,

The app is crashing? Can I ask what is displayed when this happens?

The error above means your user account does not have all of the required capabilities, are you logging into the app as admin?

Tony,

Yes, the app crashes. No error messages. It logs in, tries to load events for about 4 seconds, then crashes.

I have verified the correct permissions for two different user accounts. I actually created a new user just to check that it wasn’t a permissions issue. I verified that both users had the above credentials set. Actually, they’re both set to “Event Administrators”.

Hmm ok, have you tested an android device at all?

If you try logging into the app using an administrator account, does it work then?

I just tried it, and the Android app gives me the “Sorry, you are not allowed to list events. Missing permissions: ee_read_events, ee_read_others_events, ee_read_private_events” error before closing.

I tried an administrator account and it gives the same error.

May I ask do you have any security plugins or special .htaccess rules set up to restrict access to the site? The reason I ask is because the missing permissions message means that the app isn’t being allowed to authenticate with your site.

I disabled AIO WP Security but it still doesn’t work. I deleted some custom .htaccess rules, but it still gives the same error. I’m not sure what else could be blocking it. Would one of you be able to log in and take a look?

Can you try starting with an .htaccess file that includes the WordPress permalink rewrite rules only?

It may also help to deactivate all other plugins and switch to the default theme. One user actually reported that their theme had some code that prohibited connecting to the app.

Update: I disabled all my plug-ins and determined the crashing has something to do with either bbpress or Buddypress Security Check. Additionally, the plugin “Restricted Site Access” caused the app to keep me from logging in at all. So, once disabling these plug-ins I am able to access my events. Thanks for the guidance!
