I am having some issues with my site, where I cannot access things like plugins or widgets. The apache logfile reposts a lot, however, this is the main bit:
mod_fcgid: stderr: WordPress database error Got a packet bigger than 'max_allowed_packet' bytes for query UPDATE `wp_options` SET `option_value` = 'a:2:{s:9:\"3.1.29.1P\";a:2:{i:0;s:43:\"espresso_copy_data_from_attendee_cost_table\";i:1;s:33:\"espresso_ensure_is_primary_is_set\";}s:8:\"3.1.31.1\";a:20774:{i:0;s:33:\"espresso_ensure_is_primary_is_set\";i:1;s:33:\"espresso_ensure_is_primary_is_set\";i:2;s:33:\"espresso_ensure_is_primary_is_set\";i:3;s:33:\ It goes on for several, full lines! I am not trying to add anything to EE, so not sure why anything is trying to be uploaded. Is there an auto update in process, causing some form of error?

It looks like you’re hitting the ...for query UPDATE `wp_options` SET `option_value` =... Do you have debugging turned on in your Event Espresso General Settings page? I’ve never actually seen Apache choke on packet size, particularly when it’s just updating the options. |

But I am not touching EE! I switched the PHP script execution mode from FCGId to CGI and it seems to have resolved the problem, but, obviously, it does not correct the issue, as it seems that the issue is FCGId related!

still getting error: “espresso_ensure_is_primary_is_set\\”;i:18201;s:33:\\ I cannot see a switch for debugging – there is logging! |
Hi there, Can you try deactivating, then reactivating Event Espresso to see if that error goes away? |
|
|
Deactivating stops it.
Re-activate and it comes back! |
Hi bins, I’m sorry for the trouble. There is a fix for this in the next hotfix release that we are testing right now. You can test the same version by downloading it here. |

Josh, wow, did I find a bug!!!! At present, I do not have a test rig to try the release. Can this go to a live site? If yes, what is the upgrade process?

It’s possible to install it on a live site, but you should probably wait for the hotfix release if you prefer to do the automatic updates. The hotfix download link I sent you would have expired by now. If you didn’t download it, you might wait until the hotfix is officially released The update process is the same as when you’d manually update to a new version of Event Espresso, which is outlined here: |
