Hi,
We have gone through the forum posts for implementing deposit, partial payment support in EE as shown in these posts
https://eventespresso.com/topic/collect-a-reservation-fee-then-additional-payments-for-a-course/
https://eventespresso.com/topic/partial-payments-3/
https://eventespresso.com/topic/suggestions-for-collecting-a-deposit-partial-payment/
We have edited payment_overview.php and email.php as described. (If there is a comprehensive tutorial, please let us know)
We are finding that these workarounds are lacking and make upgrading worrisome. And glitches remain, for instance, recording partial payments in the Dashboard still sends the attendee a “Payment Received” email stating the entire amount was paid, not the amount of the partial payment. How close is EE development moving toward OFFICIALLY supporting partial, deposit, course type payments either in core or with add-ons? Or, is this something that we can only get support on via the Premium Forum in a piecemeal fashion or is this possible to implement via an official set of modified files supplied by your Premium Token support? Thanks!

Another problem is when the attendee goes to the Payment Overview link in the email, it shows Amount Paid/Owed correctly, but the PayPal screen will ask for total ticket price to be paid.

Hi there,

I’m afraid we are not close to supporting a system that allows for partial payments at this time. The newer version of Event Espresso that we are working on has some of the pieces in place to allow this in the future, but there are more pieces to this that need to be developed in order to fully support partial payments.

Thanks for your reply!
In that case, we would be interested to know if support for this is something that can be supplied by your Premium Token support?

Hi Milan,

Not really, priority support tokens are not intended to be used for customization work.

What I can recommend is contacting one of our recommended developers to get a quote on a custom solution that extends existing Event Espresso functionality:

thanks for reply. Is it possible to get forum help for the edits that are needed for the payment processor template files for PayPal and Quickbooks for now? If the correct owed balance can be sent to the processor, this might be an interim solution. Thanks.

He there,

Generally speaking the support forums are here for helping out with installation, configuration, setting up, and helping through troubleshooting when things do not work as expected. Support does not include customization services.

Thanks. On the posts I link to, small modifications to payment_overview.php and email.php were provided, so I was hoping for mods for the payment processor scripts also if they were of a similar limited scope.

What you’re looking to do would turn out being more than modifying a few lines of code in the gateways, so we are not able to provide customization help in the case.
