I’ve set up an event with integrated payment via PayPal. When users get to the payment overview screen, however, they do not see an empty box instead of the PayPal logo (I can send a screenshot if you need clarification). Clicking the empty box takes the user to PayPal, so the system is working, it’s just the missing logo.

This may have something to do with the fact we recently moved our site from one server to another.

Ideas?

Hi Mark,

If you go to Event Espresso -> Payment Settings.

In the gateway list find PayPal Settings.

There you will find a field for ‘Button Image URL’ which currently points to a file located within event-espresso-free.

You can either remove the URL completely and update the settings to use the default image provided by Event Espresso, or upload your own and add the full path there then update the settings.

I looked at that setting; that field was empty. I uploaded a file, added a path to the field and retested. Still get an empty box. Given we’ve moved the site recently, could this be a permission issue with directories?

Its possible, although I do not think this is the issue.

The current img src is yourdomain.com/wp-content/event-espresso-free/gateways/paypal/btn_stdCheckout2.gif

If you go to yourdomain.com/wp-content/plugins/event-espresso/gateways/paypal/btn_stdCheckout2.gif

You’ll see the default image loads fine.

Are you running and caching? Either within a WordPress Plugin or through your host?

You’re correct, I can directly view the file in the directory. I don’t know what you mean by “running and caching.” I’ve forwarded your question to the technical support folks at our hosting service. I’ll let you know what they say.

Sorry that’s a typo.

Are you running any caching? Either within a WordPress Plugin or through your host?

Yeah, I can’t answer that one either! I’ll let you know what our hosting folks say.

Hi Mark,

Could you go to the payment settings for PayPal and double-check the folder location for that image file?

Here is what that looks like in EE4:

Lorenzo,

I logged into the site with Filezilla and drilled down to the file. Here’s the entire path:

wp-content/plugins/event-espresso/gateways/paypal/btn_stdCheckout2.gif

I also tried to manually set a file using the browse button next to the data field; that didn’t work either.

Hi Mark,

Try de-activating the Paypal gateway, then re-activate it once again.

If that doesn’t work would it be possible for you to send us temporary login details to investigate this a little further?

Is so please send via:

If I deactivate will I lose any data?

Hi Mark,

Deactivating PayPal will just disable that payment gateway. If you reactivate it, then it will be restored.

Just to confirm, only de-activate the Paypal Gateway – http://take.ms/mRBP1

You should not lose any data, but it would be good to make a note of the Paypal settings before doing so (just to be safe)

The details should all be saved within the database anyway.

After de-activating the gateway, re-activate the Paypal gateway. Be sure nothing is within the Button IMG URL field (http://take.ms/DhdQP) and update the settings once again.

Hold the presses… I’m an idiot. Just like I always tell all the other idiots who constantly call me for help fixing their computers: You gotta read the entire screen!

I was editing the data block labeled “Image URL (logo for payment page)” when I should’ve been editing the data block labeled “Button Image URL.”

Problem fixed. Sorry for the waste of brain power.
