Just had our key reset because my local development site URL changed due to some DNS changes on our local network. Re-saved the key and on our account page I see the key is now active for the new URL, yet still get the error trying to update.

Hello,

I’ve just reset your Support License Key. In a few minutes, you’ll receive a confirmation to your email address on your Event Espresso account.

If you are using Event Espresso 3, please login to your WordPress admin and locate Event Espresso in the admin menu. Then click on General Settings. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and locate the area for Support License. Now copy the existing key. Then erase the existing key and click on Save Options. After the page refreshes, scroll back down to the Support License area and paste your key and click on Save Options.

If you are using Event Espresso 4, please login to your WordPress admin and locate Event Espresso in the admin menu. Then click on General Settings. Copy the existing key which appears at the top of the page. Then erase the existing key and click on Save on the right side of the screen. After the page refreshes, please paste your key and click on Save once more.

These steps will refresh your Support License Key for Event Espresso.

Okay, went through the two step process of saving a blank license key and then re-adding the correct one. Our account page at your website shows the key activated for the correct URL. Now I can’t seem to get my site to find the update. I have 3.1.36.2.P installed and when I check for updates I am told all plugins are up to date.

Hi Mark,

Is it possible to get your login details in order to look into this?

If so, please send them via https://eventespresso.com/send-login-details/

NOTE: login details need to be Admin level and FTP details are appreciated.

This site is still in early development and is running on a server on our LAN sitting behind a firewall; which, also happens to be our Primary Domain Controller so I am very reluctant to open it up to the Wild Wild Web.

I would be happy to do whatever analysis you would do (I spent 20+ years in Corp IT doing systems programming on large mainframes, before the last 10 doing Web development with php, python, etc.) so I am rather confident I can provide you with the information you may need.

That being said: I am just getting back to implmenting EE after a three month distraction which resulted in the PDC going from CentOS 6.3 to 6.5; and I am thinking at this point I may just create a fresh install (WordPress was also upgraded to 3.9) and start fresh…unless there is some analysis you folks would benefit from in the current state?

Well now, without changing anything, it is aware there is an update available; but still have the valid license key issue….

Hi Mark,

Really it was for one of the developers to try to troubleshoot why this issue is still occurring (it’s been a running battle for us for a while now) in some instances but not in others.

So updates are now coming through but the message remains, and returns after dismissing it?

I meant to add that it’s fine if login details are not available. I will reset your licence key hopefully that will resolve the message issue.

Apparently I’m forgetting everything this morning, can you remove the licence key, save the settings, then add it back and re-save please.

Morning? It’s 11pm…sorry, couldn’t resist. Welcome to a new day. I’ll it try now. I was going to try tcpdumping the exchange but didn’t have sufficient motivation to dig into the code to figure out what host is talking too….

Another thought I had was the only change, aside from everything on our network (thank you Win XP for going EOL), is that the URL changed from “newsite” to “newsite.institute.lan”…?

Alright, just successfully updated. Two variables though: I disabled all plugins except for EE core; and, I exported my database, dropped all tables and re-imported but that previously didn’t solve the issue.

So, I have now successfully updated…not sure what made the difference. Went through a couple iterations of key reset, etc. to no avail. Disabling plugins? Reloading database?

I’ll go ahead and close this out. Thank you (all) kindly for your assistence.
