We have just rolled out our starting test for our first registrations. All is running well but we are already looking forward to the next level of our use.

I am looking to see if anyone has used this system to allow a set list of companies to register, if they are not on the list the can not register. I would also like this same list to drive the number of free registration, once the free tickets are used up then they will have to pay a set fee per ticket.

Has anyone done anything like this? Is it possible?

Hi there,

That’s not something we have built into Event Espresso so you likely need custom development from a developer.

Do the users on this ‘list’ have an account on your site they need to log into before they can register onto the event? Or are you just wanting to check against a list of say email addresses?

Right now they do not have accounts on the site. I would prefer for it to check a temporary list. This is for exhibitor registration at a trade show so the list will change for each event. Maybe an .xml look for an idea.

Hmm ok.

So the reason I asked if they had an account is you could have used the WP User Integration and added a minimum capability to the ticket(s) to prevent users without that capability from accessing it. But you’d need to create the accounts and have the user log in.

What you looking for is possible, but its not something we have available at this time.

The WP User Integration add-on actually hooks into the checkout and checks if you are using the same details as one of your WP Users whilst logged out, if so it stops the registration and asks the user to log in. You’d basically be doing the same thing only rather than checking for a WP User, you’d be checking whatever list you are using.

If you are comfortable with PHP and OOP you can take a look at how that works in EED_WP_Users_SPCO.module.php and it’s the verify_user_access method in that file. If not you’ll need the help of a developer to build this out for you, we have some that are familiar with Event Espresso listed here:
