All in one SEO & WordPress SEO by Yoast – Both have conflicts in EE4.

regarding All in one SEO –
when you activate the plugin , you cannot enable it for Custom Post Types (events) – obviously this is essential to enable if you want to be able to add titles & descriptions to your events. – When you enable this, it breaks the “Add Datetime” feature. So you can’t add event date times.

regarding WordPress SEO by Yoast –

If you add titles or descriptions to events and then save the event… it breaks the cms page…all your visual editor frames and all other meta boxes don’t show .

Can you please check these plugins – an could you please recommend a plugin that doesn’t break EE, that you know you can use for titles & description for events. ???

The above plugins are widely used so these issues should be tested and resolved.

Hi Christian,

I’m looking into the WP SEO Plugin by Yoast. I’m not seeing any issues with saving Events with the current version (1.6.1) of WP SEO by Yoast active. Are you running the current version of the Yoast plugin with the current version of Event Espresso? I’m also wondering if there’s a third party plugin or theme function in the mix that’s causing the issue that you’re seeing. Is that something you can troubleshoot?

Re: All in One SEO, I had a resolved issue (Copy event in EE4) re permalinks not showing in the event when AIO was enabled. One of the posts resolved this using specific settings within AIO, which you might refer to. However, I just noticed when the Social Meta feature is enabled in AIO, the permalinks within an event disappear (incl. the duplicate button), fyi.

I am using the current versions of EE4 & AIO & Yoast, they both cause the issues described…

It sounds like there are some issues with these SEO plugins. If we find some better solutions we’ll update this post.

I’m having a similar / related issue w/ Yoast’s SEO plugin.

In the SEO plugin I can see settings for the EE CPTs.

However, when I edit an Event in EE, I don’t get the Yoast metabox. In fact, under Screen Options I don’t even get a check box for WordPress SEO by Yoast.

Posts, Pages seem fine with WP SEO. It’s just with EE’s CPT.

This is my first support post. I’m sure you have a bobust TODO list. But I am curious about the usual / rough turn around on something like this. btw, I just ppurchased EE today so I’m on the latest version of EE (but only PHP 5.3.1). In case that helps.

Hi Mark,

This may be something that the SEO plugin can fix. The Event Espresso event post type is public, so theoretically the meta boxes should show up in the event editor.

Is there a plugin you would recommend which is compatible with EventEspresso?

WordPress SEO by Yoast versions 1.2.2 or earlier are compatible with Event Espresso 4. Please note that if you’re downgrading it may be buggy, so I’d recommend start with the earlier version on a clean install, or an install where the later version of Yoast SEO’s settings have been removed.

What is the status of a resolution? Downgrading to a previous version of Yoast introduces security issues.
