Hi, we are using espresso plugins on our site for event registration and booking etc, but nor its not redirecting to thank you page after submission, instead it is staying on main page and displaying the success message. i have setup correct short-codes in page and not repeating any. please help, thank you! |
Hi Michael, Does the redirect if you’re logged into the site? If so, that’s caused the pages being served from a cache, and you can contact WPEngine to request that they don’t server the EE pages from the cache. If the redirect does not work if you’re logged into the site, then you can follow these troubleshooting steps: 1) You rule out a theme conflict. You can rule this out by temporarily switching to the default WordPress theme. |

Hi Josh, thank you for the prompt reply, i enable the debug mode and got these errors : edit by EE staff: removed irrelevant PHP notices. From that last notice, i guess there is a need to update our espresso plugins on website. can you let me know the best method without destroying any setting or my data. is it safe if i download the latest versions directly and replace with current ones? also let me know if it is better to update to EE4 , as we are currently using EE3. |
The PHP notices you saw have nothing to do with the issue you are seeing, and they do not mean that there is a need to update Event Espresso. Does the redirect work if you’re logged into the site? |
|
|
It is redirecting to http://oneness.wpengine.com/event-registration instead of http://oneness.wpengine.com/thank-you , even if i am logged in on the site. |
If you go to Event Espresso -> General Settings. There you should find a ‘Page Settings’ section that looks like this – http://take.ms/mO55Q Do you have your thank you page selected within the ‘Auto Return URL’ section there?
On that same page as above, once you have confirmed that all of the correct pages are selected within the Page Settings, save the settings (even if you’ve not actually made any changes) Do you see a notice about the EE database then? |
|
It’s not an issue with the espresso database table. |

I checked the setting and it is same as per the given screenshot above, i added screenshot of my settings. however, i save the settings again without changing those and try again. EE database notice is still there and it is still not going to thank you page. One thing i should mention here, we have 4 events and they all listed on here : http://oneness.wpengine.com/event-registration , because we are using the [ESPRESSO_EVENTS] short-code on this page. but i am submitting the registration on here http://oneness.wpengine.com/event-registration/?ee=32 , on the event number second. after submission, it is staying on http://oneness.wpengine.com/event-registration instead of going to thank you page. is there something wrong about this setting? also these plugins are not up to date as they showing in admin dashboard. can that be a reason? |
It sounds more like something is breaking the form action on that page. If you deactivate all other plugins on the site, then refresh the WordPress > Permalinks Settings page, does the redirect work as expected? |
|
|
just tried the same, deactivated all plugins and reset the permalinks as well. nothing happened, it is same as before. i submit the form on http://oneness.wpengine.com/event-registration/?ee=32 and it remains on http://oneness.wpengine.com/event-registration after submission. is it possible that problem can related to the fact that espresso plugins on our site are not updated versions? we are using EE3, if needed , how can we update those? |
The reason your not being directed to the thank you page is because the event is currently free. When you register onto a free event within EE3 you just see a confirmation displayed within /event-registration/ without being directed to the thank you page. Are you not taking any payments for your event during registration? Above you asked about changing to EE4, it really depends on which of the EE3 add-ons you currently use. EE4 does direct all registrations (free and paid) to the thank you page after registration but it works differently to EE3 so it depends on your requirements really. Have you used EE4 previously? |

Hi Josh/Tony, anything on this? problem is getting worse, can you just let me know the reason why this is not going to thank you page. |
Hi Michael, I replied a little earlier: Not being directed to the thank you page is expected for free tickets. |
