We have EE 3.1.37.18.P with an odd problem. We’re finding that the admin notification for registrations are being sent out by some events, but not all. There is a CC email address for all events and it’s the same. Can’t quite figure out what’s happening. Also – -is there a way to test the process without having to pay?

Hi there,

First thing I would do is install an email logging plugin, such as:

https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-mail-logging/

The reasons for that is you want to know if the email are being trigger but then not received, or simply not triggered at all. If they show up in that mail log they were trigger by Event Espresso and ‘sent’, but then were not received by the other mail server(s).

Also – -is there a way to test the process without having to pay?

You could set up a free ticket and test on that, the problem with changing the set up is you won’t know if its the setup causing the problem or not.

Which payment method are you using?

Hi — I’ll give that a try. We’re using Paypal — the user is sent over there to pay after registering and normally we get the registration information independently of the payment info.

You mean the PayPal email confirming payment and then the EE registration confirmation?

At a quick guess, with EE3 you’ll be using the PayPal Standard integration and for that to trigger emails, the user must return to the site after they’ve completed payment on PayPal’s servers, if they don’t and just close the browser the emails won’t trigger.

Do you have auto return enabled on your PayPal account?

https://www.paypal.com/us/smarthelp/article/how-do-i-use-paypal’s-auto-return-feature-to-redirect-customers-back-to-my-website-faq3651

(Note in the section that asks for a URL, EE dynamically generates and sends that URL on the fly. However, for PayPal to enable auto return you need to use a valid URL so we recommend using the URL for the /transactions/ page on your site)

Thanks, I’ll check that.
