We have been using latest EE3 for a few years.
ISSUE: The admin email notification works well except for the fact that it does not have all the information needed in the email. We have many events happening, sometimes weekly with 100s of people registering for volunteer opportunities. Volunteers are NOT pre-approved but must be aprpoved by administrator.
We need date, time and other info in the email for the administrator.
How can we do this?
Is there an option in the system where add’l fields can be added to the email notification? Thanks

Hi Lawrence,

Currently EE3 has no way to edit the Admin emails without modifying core files.

EE4 completely revised the emails into the message system that allows you to edit all of your messages that EE sends. Is there something preventing you from upgrading to EE4?

Thanks for the reply. Fear is the only factor to be honest. We have a busy registration system. Have not changed any core files. Just need to be sure we will not mess anything up. Is there a document that we should review BEFORE we change?

That’s understandable.

Have not changed any core files.

Great!

Not currently but EE4 is more heavily reliant on your theme than EE3 and it is possible for plugins to cause issues because EE4 uses custom post types. (Although if the plugins are coded correctly there shouldn’t be any problems)

EE4 is designed to leave your EE3 data alone, it ‘migrates’ your data over but leaves the original as as (there are some changes made such as shortcodes that are used on the critical pages, but they can be manually changed back) however having said that we highly recommend testing the migrations on a development copy of the site BEFORE attempting the update on the live site.

This is especially true if you have a busy site.

That way if problems do come up, its much easier to fix those away from public view on a copy of the site, than it is to run around in a mad panic because your registrations are broken (not trying to say that’s something you would do, just as a worse case scenario 😉 )

So before looking at migrating, do you have a development copy of the site currently? (This would be a copy of the current site running either locally or within a sub domain/directory on your live server)
