Hello people of Event Espresso. We use EE to register students for a variety of training programs. Sometimes a 3rd party registers the students for a course, let’s call them Training Coordinators. Is there a way to create a second email field for the Training Coordinator and have the registration confirmation and system-generated emails sent to that email address in ADDITION to the primary registrant’s email? So in short, I would like the confirmation and system-generated emails to go to the registrant as well as the training coordinator. Thank you in advance ~Chris |

Hi there, Officially we don’t support separating the attendee from (in your example) a Training Coordinator, however, yes, it is possible to do. You need a custom question on the registration form to add the coordinator’s emails and then just pull the value of that into the messaging system, we have options which allow you to do that. Go to Event Espresso -> Registration Form -> Questions. Create a new question, you can call it whatever you prefer but lets say ‘Training Coordinator Email’. Then go to the ‘Question Groups’ tab and create a new group, again you can name that whatever you prefer but I’ll use ‘Training Coordinator Group’ just so it’s simple to follow. Add the ‘Training Coordinator Email’ question to that new group you just created and save. You only need that question collected once for all of the tickets in a group, correct? So edit the event and in the ‘Questions for Primary Registrant’ metabox (the top section shown HERE), select the Training Coordinator Group. Now when you register that new question will be asked one for the group. What we do now is pull that value into the ‘To’ field of the emails. Go to Event Espresso -> Messages -> Default Message Templates. The process is pretty much the same for all message types, however, you’ve mentioned the Primary Registrant and that’s not enabled for all types so it depends on what you have enabled and the emails you are expecting. The process to pull the value in is pretty much the same so I’ll go over that using the ‘Registration Pending Payment’ message type (because it is sent to the Primary Registrant) and if you need more details on another just let me know. In the default message templates, find the ‘Registration Pending Payment’ message type and click on ‘Edit Primary Registrant’. In the ‘To’ field add a The format for that shortcode is
Save and now test a registration by either triggering the Pending Payment email in the admin or registering onto an event and selecting an offline payment method such as Invoice to finalize. |
