Is it possible to add files (pdfs) to emails going to attendees? |
|
No I’m afraid that PDF attachments are not possible. What you can do is upload the PDF file to WP > Media, and then get the URL to download the PDF file. Then you can edit the email to include the URL as a link. They’ll be able to click the link within the email and view/download the PDF if you include a link. |

Thanks Josh. I have been exploring using advanced custom fields for this: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/add-course-curriculum-events-using-advanced-custom-fields/ where the documents are added to the thank you page upon registration. My question is can this code be modified to apply to batch emails instead of thank you pages? |

Hi there, Whilst it is possible to add shortcodes to the messages system (and more specifically to the batch emails) there are differences with how the messages are generated and the data they have available to them. The problem with trying to add event based shortcodes to the batch emails is they use the EE Contacts to generate, which don’t have access to the event they are generated for. Does this need to be the batch message type? There’s already an EVENT_META_* shortcode available within Registration based message template, such as Registration Approved, so you could use that instead of batch? EVENT_META_* is a shortcode that pulls a custom meta field set on the event which should also work with ACF but it depends on the field type. Lets say you had a custom field called with a key of ‘my-pdf-value’ you could add this shortcode |

Thanks for your response Tony. This looks interesting but I am not sure if it will work. We are using EE for a series of seminars and have done a fair bit of customization to make it work so far. Because there are different attendees and also different course material for each seminar, my thought was to send an email at the end of the seminar to all those who completed it. In that email would be the seminar material in pdf format, a link to an evaluation form and a certificate of completion. The course material is the only thing that’s unresolved. Does your suggestion above, work within those parameters? |

Sure it does, its an email built from registrations and has access to the event details. So if the email is the same for each event except the PDF, link to evaluation and certificate, you can include those 3 details in event meta, use the same message template for all and just have custom values on the event to pull the data. Is that now what you are looking for? |
