My organization wants to use EE to track attendance at training events, but can’t rely on participants to self-register (for multiple reasons). Since we have 100’s of staff that are attending training every month, there’s a real need for our admin assistant(s) to be able to bulk register staff for any given event. It appears this may have been a feature that existed in EE3 but which didn’t evolve with EE4? Either way, has anyone figured out how to do this? I saw a post from WisdmLabs about creating your own custom plugin, but I tried it and encountered several errors beyond my ability to troubleshoot (it is almost three years old, so…). |
Hi, We’re actually building something for EE4 that will allow for bulk importing registrations. May I ask you a question about how you would use this feature? What we’re wondering is if it would be best to import a batch of registrations into one event/ticket type in one go, or be able to import a batch of registrations into many events/ticket types in one go. |

Turns out I figured out how to achieve my need right after I posted that using a bulk user import add-on for LearnDash LMS (which I use in conjunction with EE). However, prior to discovering that solution, my need for bulk registration is typically on an event by event basis, often after the fact. For example, I might deliver a Safety Training course to 25 people, who all sign-in with pen and paper at the classroom entrance [I know, very old-school], and then I would need to take that sign-in sheet and manually “register” them for the event (which was linked to a course in Learndash). So from a UX standpoint, the question for me was how to most efficiently take a pen & paper sign-in sheet and turn that into a group registration in EE. The simple although not terribly efficient option would be to fill in the names / email addresses in a CSV file and import (if they don’t currently have a account established). This is what I’m doing now although via the LearnDash add-on. But if the person already has an account in the system, it would be nice if there was some kind of name lookup where you could click and add them to a list, without having to do a screen refresh after each lookup. Don’t know if that’s possible, but that would be the ideal. |
Thanks for the detailed feedback. |

Update: The Event Espresso 4 Importer add-on is released and its feature allows for importing registrations into events. You’ll find more information here: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/event-espresso-importer-add-on/ |
