How do I do that exactly in EE4? We would like to offer a special discount now as the event date approaches but I can not find any documentation on how to do that, nor find anywhere on the edit the event windows that enable promotional codes for discounts. Thanks.
Unfortunately EE4 currently does not support Promo codes.
Depending on how you have the event set up (using Datetime qty limits) you could create a new ticket for the discounted value which users can then select as opposed to the original ticket.
Is it possible to add a price modifier to the existing tickets for one day only without messing up the existing data base either before or after the one day discount?
Adding a Price modifier to a ticket that already has registrations will archive that ticket, EE will create a clone of the original ticket, and apply the modifiers to that new ticket.
That won’t break anything, but you will end up with 3 tickets for your event after the ‘Promo’ has finished.
The original ticket. (Archived)
The discount ticket. (Archived or Expired)
The ‘new’ original ticket with the original price. (This is assuming you would like the original price to be set after the promo)
Which should not really be an issue, but depends on how you have the tickets/datetimes set up and will likely need to be hidden from the front end view.
Basically if you edit anything other than the Ticket Name and description within a ticket that has registration assigned that ticket is locked and a new one created with the same details (cloned). The reason for this is so that registrations can reference the ticket within the database.
