Using ee3 and multi event registration with the redirect to cart shortcodes is no longer taking people to the registration page. When the button to register is clicked it tries to redirect straight to payment rather than take users to the page ti fill in their registration details. This is happening on new events created and those that were already in place and previously working. The site is: I had recently moved domains and reset the support key, I have entered the key for the new domain in the settings and it is showing on the site as activated but not in my account here. Thanks |

Hi there, I’ve just run a test registration on your site and was not directed to the payment options step, this is where I am directed: https://monosnap.com/file/UIysftXgJhumjh9MwObj4pD3Z8Ulql (Just to clarify, that’s not the payment options page. There is some hardcoded text within your page that refers to PayPal, but that’s not from Event Espresso itself). When you moved domains, did you also move servers? If you edit this page: https://cityofthedeadbookings.com/event-registration/ What shortcode is used on that page? Note, the license key has no effect on EE’s functionality so the key not showing is not causing this issue, we’ll check that shortly but for now let’s get your events back up. |
Hi TOny, Thanks for getting back to me. The hardcoded tent is part of the the events registration page: https://cityofthedeadbookings.com/event-registration/ along with the shortcode. Here’s a copy of the full content of the page:
I’ve checked all the page settings in the Event Espresso General Settings and they are all correct and pointing to the pages with the appropriate shortcodes. These were all left the same when the domain was moved (this was down with the add-on Duplicator Pro). The issue seems to be affecting both events that were created before the domain move and any new ones I create. Any help is greatly appreciated. |
Ok thank you, so do you see something different from my screenshot on your end? I’m just checking as I don’t see anything to do with payments so checking I’m getting the same as you.
Great.
So you didn’t just change domains, but changes servers?
Yeah, I don’t think this is an issue with the events themselves. Can you create a new test event that has ‘display registration form’ option set to yes? I’d like to test a registration without using MER. |
Yeah I’m seeing the same I was mistaken about it going to payment it was just the event registration page with the hard coded message.
Yes server and domain were changed the old domain was cityofthedeadtours.com
I’ve made a test event on 30th June at 8:30 am without any group bookings and just displaying the registration form. It seems to display the form for me. |
Ok, have you customized any of the templates/functions within EE? Do you have any files in |
The only changes I’ve made were to the attendee_list.php file which is in that folder. The changes made are from this thread here: |
Ok, so I assume you have a backup of all files? If not create one. You can use duplicator and just download the full package if preferred. Then deactivate and delete the multi event registration addon. Download the latest version from your account page and install through Plugins -> Add new -> Upload plugin. Then retest. I suspect something hasn’t copied over correctly. The fact that the default registration process works points to the multi event registration templates being at fault so far. |
Hi, I’ve followed the steps above and after reinstalling the multi event registration add-on I’ve still go the same issue. Would it be better for me to buy a support token to allow you to access the site directly and see if there is something I am missing? Thanks again for all the help. |
Sure, if you prefer we troubleshoot this directly you can use a support token. Just to note, my next step would be to advise reinstalling the latest version of Event Espresso itself just to make sure everything within the core plugin is also correct so you may want to try that first. |
Thanks Tony, Just to speed it up a bit rather than going back and forward I’ve purchased and redeemed a support token. If you need any other details from me just let me know. |

Ok, so I spent some time digging into this and the problem is due to sessions. Some sessions are set to use session files in a You’ll need to contact your host and have them exclude your site from memcached for the checkout to function. |
Thanks for this. I’ve contacted my hosting company and asked them to exclude memcached on it. Hopefully this sorts the issue, I’ll get back to you as soon as I hear from them. |
Unfortunately no joy, my host has removed memcached from the php.ini file but still getting the same issue when trying to add to cart for a multi event booking. Is there anything else you can suggest to resolve this issue? |
I checked your site and memcached is still enabled. I’ll explain a little on how I’m testing this so you know. In If I add: When you add an event to the session by clicking the add to cart button it will output the session save_path value and we can capture that in Google Chrome. Like so – https://monosnap.com/file/fyWVEoYCdM9hY6USTpimxtjsHQrjwL That code breaks the Ajax request used to add the session so if I leave it o the site, all you’ll get is a spinning wheel when you add an event, so again I’ve removed it now but the screenshot shows that memcached is used on your site. |

Thanks for your patience with this and for getting back to me. I’ve forwarded your info on to our web host to see if they can come up with a solution but if not I may just transfer from them to your recommended host of wp engine as I have had numerous issues with them recently. If I do go down this path do you have an associate link or anything to wp engine that I should use to sign up to ensure you are credited with the business going to them? |
Firstly, thank you for asking if we have a referral link, we do and it is: https://eventespresso.com/go/wpengine/ WP Engine enables server-side caching on all pages by default but it can easily be disabled with a quick email to them (they need to exclude all of the ‘Critial Pages’ set in General Settings). |
