Hey guys, only thing I could find is from a year ago https://eventespresso.com/topic/woocommerce-3/ on that post and it says to use a different add-on we have to purchase. My question is why would you guys not make this a feature with event espresso? Are you affiliated with the person selling the 2018 $59 plugin? After all this time is there not any new feature on Event Espresso for better ecomm checkout options? It feels like the plugin hasn’t changed at all in over four years? Its frustrating. |

Hi Jarred,
There are many reasons for us not having various features available ranging from customer demand to support. We’d love to be able to offer every feature request but the reality is we simply can’t. So the short answer to why we don’t have X feature is generally because we are currently working on other features with higher demand. So why don’t we have a price modifier add-on similar to the above? Because someone else has built an add-on that fills the needs of the users that currently need it and we are focusing on other areas. It isn’t worth dropping the work on other features to work on a price modifier add-on at this time, the EE4 Editor rewrite and Recurring events have taken priority.
No, not at all. None of our links to Aparna’s codex are affiliate links and we earn nothing from people purchasing that add-on. Aparna is a customer/developer who worked on EE for clients for themselves, not us. They developed some add-ons and then they requested to be included on our developer/3rd party add-on page and we link to the price modifier for users that need the feature right now.
I understand your frustration however, it is important to note that Event Espresso is an event management system at its core, that’s the feature set we focus on most and not ‘additional e-commerce’. EE does a lot of different things already and we bend it to fit various uses cases as and when we can. Even unofficially, we (support) provide various snippets to help it work for use cases we’ve never previously thought of it working on if we can. Your opening post (and linked post) refers to WooCommerce integration and I can tell you after investigating creating an integration with it for EE that it is way more complex than it sounds. Adding an integration with WooCommerce properly would be a huge undertaking (is essentially integrating 2 very different checkout systems), its something we have discussed previously and would be great to tackle but it simply isn’t going to happen for a while due to the above. That isn’t me dismissing your request, it’s just the reality of having multiple highly requested features which are a part of our core feature set that needs to be worked on first 🙂 |
