Hello, I just followed 2 video tutorials on how to add a new event. I just purchased EE4 subscription. I save the draft and when I click on “preview page” – the page only includes the title, description, and picture. The page looks nothing like your examples in the tutorials. Please help. This is time sensitive. Thanks!

Hi,

Sometimes the theme will need to be updated to allow showing the event content, especially if the theme isn’t coded like the default WordPress themes. A quick way to check is while you’re viewing the Preview, click on the the Customize link in the toolbar, then go to Change the theme, then click the Preview button on one of the twenty{} themes. While previewing the other theme, does the missing information begin to display?

Hi Josh, I changed the Theme and the registration info did indeed appear. Here is the problem. We must maintain our current theme for the site overall – I could have a different theme, if necessary, for event registration. How do I go about fixing this? Detailed steps would be awesome. Thanks!

It’s no problem since in most cases, a theme can be updated so everything will just work. Could we get a copy of the theme so we can investigate further? You can email a copy to support at eventespresso.com, or upload it to a file-share like Dropbox or Google Drive, then post a link here.

Thanks! Could you please give me a link or instructions for the best way to copy the theme from WP? I am finding different instructions online.

How are you connecting to the server?

Are you using FTP?

If so you navigate to /wp-content/themes/

There you’ll find a directory with your theme name, copy that to your local machine.

Compress it to a zip and then send via the email above.

If you have FTP access to the server but are unsure of the above we can download it directly from the site if you send the FTP details using this form:

Hello, I sent the form. If possible, please reply back asap because we need to set up the event soon. Thank you!

Hi,

We received the form, but you did not send file/FTP access. You sent access to the WP dashboard, but we actually do not need that. If you can resend and include access to the files (usually FTP is best, but temporary control panel access will do), then we can download a copy of the theme and investigate.

Thanks Josh. Could you give me step-by-step non jargon instructions on how to give you access to FTP or temporary control panel access? Thank you!

Hi,

1) Contact your web hosting provider and ask them to provide FTP account information. It appears that your site is hosted on Bluehost, and they provide this guide:
https://my.bluehost.com/hosting/help/ftpaccounts#general
If you need further assistance with getting the FTP information, you can contact Bluehost support.
2) Copy and paste the FTP information into the form on this page:
https://eventespresso.com/send-login-details/
then submit the form

Hi,

Thanks for sending that information. It was very helpful for getting to the bottom of this.

I’ve upload a little plugin to your site that will fix the issue. The plugin’s name is “Fix UUA Congregation theme’s excerpt filter mix-up” and it was placed in the “Must-Use” plugin folder, so it does not need to be activated.
