I’m using Event Espresso to register participants for a summercamp. After subscribing I devide all participants in different small groups. (So let’s when 100 people register, I devide them in 10 different groups) The only way I can think of how to do that is to download the data in Excel and divide them in groups within Excel. I would rather do it directly within Event Espresso and keep all data together.

Would there be a way to add participants to small groups after they’ve subscribed within Event Espresso? Maybe via a 3rd party add-on? Maybe by adding some custom code? How would you guys deal with this issue?

Hi there,

May I ask, what do you want to do with the ‘groups’ in Event Espresso?

What I would do is create an admin only question, say a ‘Group number’ question, and assign it to one of the question groups used during the registrations. Then you can edit each individual registration and set the answer of that question within the registration questions.

That way when you export the registrations to CSV the groups will already be available in the CSV and you always have a record within EE of the groups used.

Would that work for you?

Hi Tony,

Thanks for your answer. I will use the groups at the event itself, for example games that they will play within that group.

Your solution with an admin-field seems like a good option! Would there also be an easy way to make a bulk-edit? So add a similar value (groupnumber) to the admin field for multiple attendees.

If I understand your question correctly you’ll need to edit each individual registration and set an answer for that question, there’s no bulk option to edit them.

If you mean adding the question to current registrations, when you add the question to a question group assigned to the event(s) these registrations are for, that question will show up for all registrations of that event, past and present.

Thanks for your answers. In the end I added an admin field to the event and with the wpdatatables-plugin I’m able to edit the admin fields pretty easy via the frontend as an administrator.

My apologies, I didn’t realise it was a requirement to edit the question on the front end.

You can also do it through the admin without any additional plugins:

Event Espresso -> Registrations -> {find registration and edit} -> Reg form answers – http://take.ms/LyFZb

Click the ‘edit the above question group’ text and you can alter the values for the questions assigned to that registration, then save.
