Here’s what’s on the account:
Events Table View Template
Created: 2019-04-24 (UTC)
Cost: $27.97/year
Renews On: 2023-04-24 (UTC) for $27.97/year
EE3 Personal License
Created: 2017-03-16 (UTC)
Cost: $49.98/year
Renews On: 2023-03-16 (UTC) for $49.98/year

Here are the current plugins:
Event Espresso Version 4.10.44.p
Event Espresso – Calendar (EE 4.3+) Version 3.2.16.p

Our hosting complany Flywheel updates the plugins. Is there something I should be doing to give them access to the updates? I’m not comfortable updating myself. Thanks…Angela please email me at: (angelad@matrixparents.org)

You have an EE3 Personal License subscription, which means you have access to the equivalent Event Espresso 4 add-ons as you would have with EE3 to make a path available to you to upgrade from EE3 to EE4 (EE5 coming soon). So, your available downloads will include plugins that are normally purchased à la carte.

Hi Garth,
Can you give me a step by step process of what I need to do to keep our Event espresso current? I’m not a tech person and am doing my best to keep problems from happening.

I don’t understand what you meant in your support comment,
“So, your available downloads will include plugins that are normally purchased à la carte.” The hosting company updating our plugins can only update what I have downloaded. What is it I need to download for both the Espresso, the calendar and the list plugins we use?
thanks for your help.
Angela

Hi Angela,

Because your account has access to both Event Espresso 3 and Event Espresso 4, what you have showing as your subscriptions on your account may vary from what you have installed.

As long as your subscription is active, you will receive notifications in your WordPress Plugins page about updates that are available. To keep Event Espresso up-to-date, you’ll want to keep the plugins up-to-date when new versions are released.

You’ll also want to plan a time when you can migrate from EE3 to EE4, which is a pretty easy process, found here: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/how-to-upgrade-event-espresso/#migrate-to-event-espresso-4

Your plugin files are all available for download from the Downloads section of your website (for EE3 and EE4 respectively).

Does that help?

Thank you Garth. Does this mean that the upgrade to EE4 is available to the folks who are updating our plugins on our website…or do I need to log into Espresso, download the update, and send them the zipped file?

Are there any known glitches with EE4 and WordPress 5.6.10? We cannot afford any migration problems since our families rely on being able access trainings (though we do use an alternate registration system that interfaces with SalesForce).

Thank you for the steps. What will happen if we don’t immediately upgrade but keep our subscription active? I feel it’s necessary to connect with our WordPress theme developer before making these changes. It is a custom theme and I have no idea what coding may have been adjusted. I don’t have continued access to this developer but will find a way to involve him. I am only hoping things will hold up for another month or two so we will have time to do a migration that will be safe.

Thanks for your help…I have encouraged our team to continue with Event Espresso because I have received excellent tech support over the years.
best wishes
Angela

If you are currently using Event Espresso 3 plugins, then you’ll need to manually download and install Event Espresso 4 plugin files.

I’m not aware of any incompatibilities with WordPress versions.

I would test the migration on a staging or development environment before doing it on a live site. I expect the migration from EE3 to EE4 go just fine, but I have no idea what that means for your theme.

Let me know if I can do anything else for you.
