We’re seeing an intermittent problem. We received two confirmations of registration from a person who abandoned the registration process the first time. She received confirmation of registration for both attempts, and so did we as admin. Is there some setting I am not aware of that can fix this problem? It has occurred on several occasions. In one other recent case, no confirmations went out to either the registrant or us for someone who did indeed register for the class. Is there a glitch I should find and fix (perhaps with your help)? |

Hi, From what you’ve reported, this doesn’t sound like a glitch. If they’ve registered twice (even if they abandoned the process the first time) there should be two records of registration. The confirmation emails can be triggered if they’ve gone far enough through the process (even without paying). So depending on how far into the process they go before they abandon the registration process, you may get a notification of registrations (labeled Pending Payment) or you may not. In either case there will be a registration recorded for each attempt. |

Thanks, Josh. Now I know. You are always immensely helpful. Thanks again. |

Hi Josh, One last question, if you don’t mind: When an incomplete registration triggers an e-mail confirmation, does that use up a ticket from the attendance count? |
|
What status do these registrations have? Only Approved registrations apply to the registration limits so unless the registrations are being marked as ‘Approved’ they will not apply to the sold values. |
|
Thank you. I have all registrations set as approved. Looks like an incomplete registration, which triggers an email confirmation, will subtract one place from the class in question. *Sigh* Thanks as always for your help. |

You can make it so the abandoned registrations instead have the status “Pending Payment” by changing the event’s “Default Registration Status” setting. You go in to edit the event, then change the Default Registration Status setting to “Pending Payment”. |

Thanks, Josh. I honestly can’t remember why I switched from Pending Payment to Approved. It probably had something to do with the switch to online payments and not wanting registrants to get a pending-payment notice, so they might fear that their credit card wasn’t accepted. Maybe I should revisit that. |

They’ll only get the email about a pending payment if they do not attempt to pay at checkout. If they try to pay and the payment is declined, they’ll get a different email. |
