Is there a way for people who have registered but abandoned before payment to get back to their registration and complete the payment?

If not, do I have to delete their pending payment abandoned registration before they can pay again?

Yes they can. They’ll need their unique registration URL to get back to their registration and complete the payment. They’ll automatically get a “Registration Pending Payment” email if they’ve finalized the registration, and that email includes the URL. Also, you can manually send them that URL by going to Event Espresso > Transactions then click the email icon in the Actions column. This will send a payment reminder which will include the registration URL to return to.

Thanks, Josh. When I look at the transactions, I don’t see an email icon in the Actions column https://www.screencast.com/t/SEZgLwXZB I also don’t see the person that I want to contact with the payment URL.

I do see that icon in the Registrations list, with the person whose transaction was abandoned. https://www.screencast.com/t/SEZgLwXZB
So I’m confused as to whether that person (Paul M******) is registered or not.

From the looks of the screenshot, all of the transactions are either paid (the first two) or the transaction total = 0.00. The send payment reminder icon will display if both of these two conditions are met:
1) The Payment Reminder message type is activated
2) The transaction total shows as owing

Ok, thanks, Josh.

On a similar note…I have had a few people who registered, didn’t pay, and then later came back and registered again and then DID pay. If I cancel the registration that’s pending payment, are they going to get the cancellation email? I don’t want to confuse them.

When you cancel registrations from the Event Espresso > Registrations page it will give you the option to Cancel Registrations and another option to Cancel Registrations and Notify. If you select Cancel Registrations, no email will be sent.

If you want to be extra sure to not send a Cancellation email, you can go to Event Espresso > Messages > Settings, then drag the Registration Cancelled item to the Inactive Message Types box. This will remove the Cancel Registrations and Notify option.

Thanks, I did that, but now that registration is showing cancelled below the person’s name, but the TXN date is green, and below the date it says Complete. In the legend at the bottom it shows that cancelled registrations should be gray. It’s confusing to see green txns that are cancelled also showing as complete and colored green.

Hi,

One thing to keep in mind is that a transaction is not the same thing as the registration. For example, one transaction can have many registrations. When you cancel a registration, the transaction is considered complete because there’s no further action required. The color of the bar to the far left actually designates the registration status, and the bar will be gray when it’s a cancelled registration.

That said, if you want to customize this, you can add the following code to your site:

add_action(
    'admin_head-event-espresso_page_espresso_registrations',
    'my_custom_admin_reg_colors'
);

function my_custom_admin_reg_colors() {
  echo '<style>
    .reg-status-RCN a.ee-status-color-TCM {color:gray;}
    </style>';
}

You can add the above to a functions plugin or into your WordPress theme’s functions.php file.

Thanks, Josh. I’ll give that a try.
