Is there any way to turn off cart tracking? The issue I keep getting is users are adding events to their cart, then leaving the site, then coming back, adding more to the cart, placing the order, and then their transaction has more tickets on it than it should. I’m assuming this is because there is some tracking that holds the cart for the customer and persists throughout different sessions. Can you help with this? |

Hi there, There isn’t a ‘cart tracking’ feature within Event Espresso, if you have the Multi Event Registration add-on enabled it allows you to add multiple tickets to your ‘cart’ for the duration of the session (default its set to 1 hour) but other than that there isn’t a cart tracking as such, especially across different sessions. Can you link me to an event I can view this on, please? |

I also experience this sometimes. I had a qty 1 allowed for an event, but had to make it two, because if it saved the first one and was abandoned, it did not give option to empty cart. |

Hi Tony, I’m not sure how you would be able to tell by me sending you an event link, but here is a screenshot of a transaction with multiple tickets in it but the customer should only have 2 tickets. What ends up happening is, the transaction goes through for only two tickets, then the registration is marked as incomplete because it’s expecting payment for the X number of tickets and we have to fix this issue manually. |

Because then I can view what is set on the requests from the Multi Event Registration add-on (MER for short) to help narrow this down some.
Thanks, but without viewing what is being set on the requests I can’t see why that happens. MER should keep the session active for 1 hour by default, the strange part of the above is the additional tickets don’t appear to be creating attendees (you’ve only blanked our rows #1 and #2), is that right?
Are you sure the order you mentioned above is what triggers this? This:
I’m trying to think of various ways in which this could happen so I can test it but the above with No attendees assigned to tickets suggests the tickets are being added to the cart after they’ve hit the at least the payment options step. So something like: Add 2 tickets to the cart, proceed to checkout, add registrant details for the 2 tickets and proceed to payment options. Then stop and/or leave the site (possibly leaving the tab open), add additional tickets to the cart before the session expires…. then proceed to payment through the original tab. Or possibly loading the checkout process again and being directed to the payment options step… which would only include the first 2 registrations. Hmmm, I’m going to do some digging and see if I can reproduce any of the above. |

Tony, I will need to get you a testing account. Our events are locked behind a membership. How can I send the account to you securely? I think you have the right idea about what’s going on. I believe that’s exactly what’s happening (the user adds items to the cart, leaves the page open, comes back later, adds more to the cart, and checks out). Yes, many of these end up with no Contact information attached to them so it turns into a problem when we are checking attendees in for the event because they are saying they have paid but we don’t have an approved registration for them. |
