Hi,

We currently have EE version 3.1.35.2.P. We have a few questions about its features since we recently went through an upgrade to this version. We are in talks with developers for some of the features we’d like below since some of them require customization, but we wanted to see if any of them are already available with the version we have.

– We use Constant Contact as our email service. Is there a way to get a link from Event Espresso where people are already signed in so they can easily register by clicking on a link from an email?
– Can we easily change usernames? Or have usernames use email addresses instead of a profile name?
– If someone is browsing our events and needs to log in, the page after logging in takes them back to the main page instead of back to where they were. Is there a way to redirect them so they go back to their cart after logging in?
– Event details sent to Moneris used to include the event ID, date, and other details from Event Espresso. With our recent upgrade, we’ve found this info no longer appears.
– Is there custom messaging possible? For example, if someone is not logged in and they click on an event, it currently says “Member registration is closed for this site. Please contact the site owner.” which would be confusing since registration is open and they are just not signed in. Another example is that the message that shows when an event has reached its maximum number of registrations is “Number of spaces: 0” and we would prefer that not to show at all, but we do still want people to be able to view details (but that button disappears).
– The iCal icon is a bit small so some people do not realize what it is. Any way to increase the size?
– Can we make a more dynamic registration form? e.g. if someone buys a table, we’d like a path to appear that asks for their guests.
– We’d like to know which add-on would be the most useful for our members to search for events by date, topic, location, etc. and have it display in a calendar.

Hi Brent,

1) With the WP Users Integration (https://eventespresso.com/product/espresso-members/) it will auto-fill the registration form if they are logged-in and have their personal information filled out in their profile. I’m unaware of any link to auto register them.

2) Usernames are a WordPress function and cannot be changed.

3) re Moneris I’ll ask one of our techs to check that out.

4) That is not a standard function but a developer can probably add that message to the WP Users Integration (https://eventespresso.com/product/espresso-members/) or via filters.

5) You can change the icon and size if you’d like, but your developers should probably use the Custom Files Add-on (https://eventespresso.com/product/espresso-custom-files/) so that you can try to keep your changes safe after upgrades.

6) You can categorize events and display them in the calendar. There is a search function too that searches the event titles: https://eventespresso.com/testdrive/event-search/

Hi Brent,
What version did you upgrade from? I looked back through the older versions and it doesn’t look like the info that we send them has changed. If you have specific information that you want to send, make a copy of the moneris_hpp folder from plugins/event-espresso/gateways to uploads/espresso/gateways, so that your customization will be preserved when you update. Then in moneris_hpp_vars.php at line 45, you’ll want to add the fields that you want to select from the DB, and then add it to the description that is sent down on line 72. But it looks like from the notes that Moneris cuts off the description at 15 characters.
