Wordpress 3.9.1 I have installed EE and am still getting my head around how it works. I have read a fair bit of the documentation and am still trying to find answers to the following 3 issues. Hope you can help… I have set up a country (Australia), with all the state codes. When I create a ‘Venue’, the only country options in the drop down list (for the address) are the USA and Canada. Why is Australia not in the list? Have I missed something here? Secondly, I want to display courses that I will run in a training room and allow people to register for the courses and pay online. I don’t want to sell them “tickets”, but simply show the course details and allow them to register and pay. I don’t want to display ‘tickets’, let alone free tickets. Can I hide tickets altogether? Finally, how can I format a page to show a list of upcoming courses similar to that shown on the page [http://bradleycummings.net/workshops#schedule]? I want to show date, times, course name and a link to register. Thanks in advance, |
Hi Steve, This can be done through the Countries tab in Event Espresso: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/change-countries-used-event-espresso/ Tickets are currently required to register for an event. We don’t have a shortcode that will display events in a table like that. I’ll check with some team members to see if they have some ideas. — |

Hi Lorenzo, Thanks for your reply. Countries are sorted out – it was the option to include/exclude in the drop down list that I had missed. I take your point that tickets are required in Events Espresso. In that case, do I have to have a free ticket as well as paid tickets or can I exclude the free ticket(s)? I can’t seem to delete the free ticket. Lastly, in terms of the table layout example that I mentioned, are there some customer sites that you list in the EE site somewhere? If so, I could check out what others are achieving when displaying their own events and then work with shortcodes/CSS whatever in order to get something closer to the look I want i.e. the example above. Cheers, |

Hi Steve, 1) Countries. EE4 shipped with just US and Canada. However you can add in Australian states. First make sure that the country in the (General Settings) Organization tab is set to Australia. Then head over to the countries tab. Select Australia and click the “Country Appears in Dropdown Select Lists” to yes. Then Add new States/Provinces. Don’t forget to Save. Screenshot: http://take.ms/ObzcV 2) Tickets. Removing tickets is not a good idea. As Event Espresso is an event management system, tickets are how it works. You could use the language files to reword ticket into something else such as course. You could also use CSS to hide the “show details +” link which will hide a chunk of the ticket information .display-tckt-slctr-tkt-details { display:none; } 3) Layout. EE4 doesn’t have any layout templates currently. You could create a new archive template (EE4 uses Custom Posts Types) and use the template tags to show the data. You will need some PHP skills to achieve this though. We are hoping to introduce some more templates/guides in the future. |
Hi Steve, The default ticket on a new event will be a free one until you set another ticket to be the default option. With that mentioned, you just need an additional ticket and then you can remove the free option using the trash button: http://cl.ly/image/3a330Q131w3V If you have already processed registrations, then it can’t currently be removed. In this case, set the end date to now so that Event Espresso expires this ticket. Then it wont be shown in the ticket selector. — |
