Hi, I have two levels of registration for the event this Saturday, $15 student and $25 regular. People are registering as adults but at the payment screen are only able to pay the $15 student amount. This does not happen every time – some have registered at $25.

Hi Patrick,

I think the reason you’re seeing this is because they are choosing the $15.00 price option, then later in the registration form, they are selecting the “Adult ($25)” for the “I am registering as a:”.

Please note that the answer to the I am registering as a question will not change the price option.

A couple ideas that I can suggest that will help eliminate any about the price option is either

1) Change the price option selector so it defaults to $25 early discount or
2) Change the price option selector so it default to “Select One”. This way they have to select something there.

We can make the change to the price option form if you can resend the Priority support token form and this time please include FTP credentials.

Thanks, Josh.
Can you tell me how to either
1 access the price option selector, or
2 access the FTP credentials?

I don’t have the luxury of trying to figure out either one at this point.
thanks
Patrick

The price options are accessed in the event editor. However, if you change those it will not solve your problem of people not selecting the correct price option.

FTP credentials can be obtained by contacting your host if you do not know where to find them. It looks like you’re on bluehost, so this guide will help:

Please do not post FTP credentials here. Instead, please use the secure form you filled out to redeem the support token.

Hi Patrick,

We got them, but when we try them, it says Log in Failed. Can you double check the credentials, make sure they work, and resend?

I know that the login and password are correct. Could the url be http://ftp.mountaingoattrail.org?

No. Maybe this will work: Can you resend the redeem a support token form and instead of FTP credentials, can you send the credentials you use to log in to your bluehost account to access the control panel?

try those credentials but capitalize the first letter of the password.

Hi Patrick,

I was able to log in and add a new little plugin to your site that I made. Its name is “Custom Espresso Plugin” and what it does is add a script that does two things:

1) It adds a non-ticket option so registrants will now have to select either the $15 option or the $25 option.

2) If they ignore the select option and don’t select a price, it adds some validation and displays a message that says that it’s a required field. So now they have to select one of the price options.

Josh, thanks so much! Perhaps you can help with a couple of questions now:
1. Was this due to something I set up in the options?
2. In the course of this support from you, have I used any of the ticket I purchased yesterday?

I may as well admit that I’m hoping that (a) it wasn’t my fault and (b) I haven’t used it. I really didn’t want to buy a ticket yesterday but felt I had no choice. I am not, however, against paying someone to fix what I’ve done wrong.
Thanks for all your help on this.
Patrick

Hi Patrick,

I think there was a misunderstanding that when people were filling out the form, that the $25 price option could not be selected. People could select it, but they probably did not notice that they could select the correct price before they started filling out the registration form. Instead, they left the default selection at $15 and continued on.

The priority support token you purchased covered support staff’s time in developing a little custom plugin to solve this. The solution was two part:

1) Add an extra “non-option” option
2) Add some extra validation so if a valid price isn’t selected, the registration form can’t be submitted.
