Member Only Events in EE4?

I’m a web developer and just took over maintenance of a client site that uses Event Espresso v4. It seems like in v3 you could limit events to members only, but how would I do that in v4?

Thanks.

Hi,

You could use a membership plugin. EE4 uses custom post types, so most well coded membership plugins should be able to block access to the event. The only place this wont work is if your event list has the ticket selectors in it.

Dean,
Thanks for the info.

So which membership plugin works with EE4 and is free or low-cost, that would quickly enable me to have member-only events?

Hi Cindy,

It depends. Are you looking to make all events member-only or make it so only some events are member-only?

Hi Josh & Dean I would like all events to be member only…. I just purchased EE4 a couple of days ago and working on setting up and running into this. I assume I can use buddy press as a membership plugin?

Hi Chris,

BuddyPress is kind of overkill unless you need its features. WP has a built in feature that allows for people to register on the site and automatically become a member. You can enable it by going to WP > Settings > General and check the box next to Membership [] Anyone can register.

Once you have that done, you can use a plugin like this one to make events Member only.
