Cannot Update Event Espresso Plugin

I am unable to update the event espresso plugin due to the following message below. I found in the forum where I can try removing the key, saving and re-adding the key. That did not work. Do I need to have the key reset?

“You have the correct Support License Key for Event Espresso but your account only allows for automatic upgrades on one domain. Please log in to your Event Espresso account to manage your Support License Keys or purchase a support license right now.”

Hi,

I reset the key for you. Please advise if this does not resolve the issue.

Problem still exists. Same message. I tried removing the key, saving and then adding the key, saving. No go.

Hi azitsm,

I have reset your license key once again.

Please go to Event Espresso -> General Settings.

Remove the license key (cut) and save the settings, replace the license key (paste) and save the settings once more.

Be sure to check for any white space before/after the key when pasting.

If this still does not resolve the problem we will issue you a new license key.

Problem still exists. I performed the steps above quite a few times.

“A new version of Event Espresso is available. View What’s New with version 3.1.36.6.P. A valid Support License Key is needed to enable automatic upgrades. Your current account does not allow automatic upgrades on more than one domain. Please log in to your Event Espresso account to manage your Support License Keys or purchase a support license right now.”

Hi, is this a WordPress multisite or network install?

This is not a multisite and it was a normal wordpress install. Not sure what you mean by network install.

Hi,

I have issued you a new licence key, please check your account page for the new key.

I have updated the key. The error message is gone now but we are a version behind at the moment. I will wait to see when we get prompted to update and see if the update works. Thanks!

Issue still exists. Do you have suggestions on how to address this manually? I was able to receive updates in the past. We have WordPress version 4.0.

We have a guide on how to update Event Espresso manually available here:

https://eventespresso.com/wiki/updating-event-espresso/#update_manually

Is Event Espresso not showing an update is available at all?

It shows an update just will not update. I will try the manual solution and see how that goes. Thanks!

Hi azitsm,

Is there an error message shown when you try automatically update?

I’m trying to narrow down the cause of why auto updates would not be working on your site.

A new version of Event Espresso is available. View What’s New with version 3.1.36.6.P. A valid Support License Key is needed to enable automatic upgrades. It does state this on the auto upgrade page
“Compatibility with WordPress 4.0: Unknown”

We have made some changes to the update engine recently, so I have reset your license key once again.

Please go to Event Espresso -> General Settings.

Remove the license key (cut) and save the settings, replace the license key (paste) and save the settings once more.

Be sure to check for any white space before/after the key when pasting.

The notice should then be removed and the update allowed.
