I am looking for a system to use to automate our annual registration process for a high school band with over 300 students. Our registration process includes: If I use sessions as the volunteer events, is there a way to require a minimum number of sessions? I read that if an attendee selects to print an invoice instead of pay online, their attendance is not counted against the event max. Is this a setting that can be changed? Or if the volunteer events are “free”, will those that invoice be counted? If I use the group registration feature for family registrations, will they be able to select a different “track” for each of their students and then pay at one check out? Will eventespresso allow partial payments and track billing? I use Formidable and Formidable_PDF to create our online PDFs for all the medical, liability and waiver forms. Do you know if I will be able to display the data gathered by Event Expresso in a Formidable form? Which version of Event Expresso will cover most of the features we need? Thanks, |

Hi Elaine, Thanks for your interest in Event Espresso. There’s a lot of questions here, so let’s go through them one by one.
For most of the above, you can use Event Espresso 3 with the (currently free) Beta add on Price modifier. Price Modifier allows you to add questions that change the price, so extra fees outside the normal surcharge and t-shirts etc. Collecting required forms would need to be done via questions as we do not have a file upload system in place. Sign up for volunteer activities: if you don’t require an actual attendee (think capacity) for these, then a question would likely suffice. Otherwise they would need to register for another event (the activity). The additional items can possibly be done in EE4 as well, but it would be via tickets e.g. Ticket A = entrance $10, ticket B = entrance plus t-shirt $20, etc. So right now it wouldn’t be as flexible.
Not in EE3. In EE4 you can set a minimum ticket number.
Yes, you can set the basic attendee status to Pending. This marks them as not paid but does count towards capacity. Free events will always mark the attendee as Completed as there is no payment to make so the attendance count will always be increased.
Well, if I understand correctly, you could use the Multiple Event Registration add on (EE3 only currently). This will allow the user to add multiple events to a single cart and register them appropriately (but they must register for each). There is only one check out.
Yes and no. We have had a lot of requests recently for partial payments and we have made something to work with EE3 (code snippets mainly) but we know it is not ideal. EE4 can’t handle partial payments yet either, but it is something we are considering. Standard payments are tracked of course.
I am not aware of this plugin and it hasn’t come up on the forums, so the best I can answer is maybe, but probably it will need some custom development.
EE3 for now. I would however recommend checking out the EE4 demo to get a taste of what that version is like, as while it doesn’t have all the addons, it is a feature rich plugin that may well be suitable for your needs. Going forward it will be the main EE plugin. You can sign up for a demo for free over at http://demoee.org I hope that helps but please let me know if you need clarification or have more questions. |

Just further to the partial payments, one of the developers quoted recently “Our current development branch of EE4.3 supports entering partial payments from the admin and then allowing registrants to pay the rest online using any of the supported payment methods.” So it is something that is being worked on for EE4. |
