Hi EE4 support,

We are trying to build a new front end using react and on the new front end, user would able to do pretty much the same thing as they were on the wordpress site, such as after logging in, they can register for an event, and use promotion.

I found a similar thread suggesting using the ee4 rest api, but for my understanding, the for them to register an event as themselves, the user needs capabilities with ee4 api for it to work and the documentation mentioned that “In this initial implementation, we have overly simplified use of capabilities: basically, site administrators can write to ALL EE4 resources, whereas every other user can’t. We are working on enabling more fine-grained capabilities (like allowing an event manager to write to their own events, but not others’ events) but that is not yet completed.”

So I don’t think the rest-api route would be feasible. Currently I’m looking through the code base and using the ee4 model functions to create registration via ajax, but I figured there’s a lot happening under the hood when it comes to credit card payment and promotion. I’m kind of stuck on wether I should keep going with this route finding the right procedures and functions to mimic same registration flow or fall back to API method if it has any updates on the capabilities implementation.

I would appreciate your advise.

Thanks.
