I have several categories of classes on my website. Each has a color assigned in the category section. Only 1 of my categories however displays that color. There are simply not that many options on the category page so I can’t imagine what is different about 1 category over another. Any ideas?

A new development as I continue to experiment. – The classes that are not displaying their category colors DO in fact display the color if I only place them in ONE category. But as soon as I add another category the coloring goes away. That would make sense on it’s own, however the category that IS displaying color correctly also has multiple categories selected. So it’s not consistent.

In other words:
Gymnastics classes are purple
Dance classes pink
Art classes orange.

Additional class categories with no color include:
Classes for ages 3-6
Classes for age 6-8

So Gymnastics, Dance & Art all have a second category assigned to them from the age groups. Gymnastics shows purple regardless of how many other categories a class is listed under. But Dance & Art ONLY display their colors when they are the ONLY category.

hmmmmm……..

Hi,

The problem here is that in the background, the plugin grabs an array of all the categories attached to the event and then orders them by ID. This means that the category with the lowest ID is always the “top” category and that is used for the colour selection.

I’ll raise a ticket to look into this to see if we can come up with a way to make this easier to handle.

One workaround option to fix it, though it is not ideal, would be to delete the Class categories and recreate them (so that their ID is larger than the other categories).

Thanks Dean- I wondered if that might be the case. Please keep me updated on any updates to that feature. I’m assuming deleting the category would then mean I need to go through every event and reassign it to a category?

And just to be safe- Deleting the category won’t delete my events right?!

Hi,

Yes deleting the category will mean you will need to re-apply it to the events and no deleting the category will not delete the events.

We are having the same issue with one of our websites. I hope to hear of a better solution for this. Thanks.

Thanks for letting us know Steve, we have a ticket outstanding to look into it and once resolved we will add it to the changelogs (https://eventespresso.com/wiki/ee4-changelog/).
