I have searched through the support forums and have not been able to find an adequate answer anywhere. Luckily our sales volume has not run us into issues and we make separate accounting adjustments … but we need the native ability to calculate two separate tax rates within the same ticket, as we have multiple types of taxes here in Canada.

In our specific example, we sell training events, which are taxed in our jurisdiction using “HST” or Harmonized Sales Tax, at 13%.

We also sell optional books to customers, which are taxed only federally using “GST” (Goods and Services Tax) at 5%. Currently, we have to adjust the price of the books to make the total equal the actual total with the taxes. But this is incorrect accounting. The book is $20, the tax is $1. The way we have to do it to charge the correct amount, is price the book at $18.58 and the tax at $1.42. This creates accounting and tax problems.

EE needs to include an option to apply different tax rates depending on the pricing of the items. Our Square payment portal can do this when we invoice clients that request it. Our accounting software QuickBooks can do it. But EE cannot.
