Hi I know a similar question was asked in another area of the forum – https://eventespresso.com/topic/using-pc-for-event-check-in/ however as I have not purchased a licence to Event Espresso yet I cannot see any of the staff answers. So my question is this…. is there a web interface to check in attendees using a PC? Or would my event staff have to use iphone/ipad/android app or log into the WordPress admin area? My concern is that most of my staff would have a laptop at the event checkin desk, and from looking at the WordPress backend area of the demo site ( https://eventespresso.com/testdrive/ ) it’s not a very intuitive process to check in attendees. I’m looking for something nice and simple that lists the attendees for a specific event and allows my staff to simply click a button / checkbox to say that the attendee has arrived and checked in. Thanks |

Hi, Currently there isnt a system in place for that. It is however a nice idea, and one I will add to our feature request list. Whereas the iphone and android devices will scan the ticket, the iPad will allow a manual checkin. |

Hi Dean Many thanks for your response. I think it would be a really nice feature to include as my client (an events company) puts a lot of importance on the ease and speed of checking in attendees at the event. Thanks for adding this to the feature request list.. I assume it will be months before something like this would be implemented if approved, is that correct? In the meantime, do you think this is something that I could hire a developer to create for me? I see from looking at the JSON API info (https://eventespresso.com/tag/json/) that it should be possible to “..get information on all events and attendees, and even check attendees in and out of events..” Orla |

Hi, I agree, it would be a nice feature. In my own time last night I was working on something, its currently very rough (Im not a developer by trade) but if I can get it functioning a bit better then I will put it under the noses of the developers, however as 4.0 is due to be released soon the developers may not have time to examine and improve upon it. When it’s more stable I will add it to a github gist for anyone to play with but it wont be supported unless it is added to the plugin formally. It doesnt use the JSON API its just a custom shortcode with a couple of custom functions and some AJAX goodness thrown in. |

Hi Dean Just wondering if you made any progress on the web checkin interface… is it available on github yet for me to play with? Best Regards |
|
Hi, Sorry no progress yet! I am playing around with this in my own time, so please bear with me, a busy life π |

No worries Dean, I totally understand. Thanks again for you help with this one, I really appreciate it. Orla |

I actually did some work on this last night, I was closer than I imagined. It isn’t perfect, and I want to run it past the dev’s here to make sure I am not opening up a huge security hole somewhere. If they give it an ok I’ll get it posted. |

Woo hoo Dean, you’re a star! Thanks π |

No problem, its a way for me to expand my knowledge. Please remember though there will be no support for it, think of it as a base for your own project. It is completely unaffiliated with Event Espresso, so it’s a use at your own risk thing. |
