Since installing MER, no longer getting registration emails

When we had just EE installed, we were able to receive event registration emails in the Admin box and the registered user’s email. We installed MER last week and created a few test events. The attendees get the confirmation page and are added to ‘Attendee’ list, but confirmation emails are not received.
We are running EE v3.1.35P and MER v1.0.4
There are no emails in the sent folder of the admin account and using the ‘Send email to all Attendees’ feature does not function either.
is there a setting somewhere missing? I searched for an answer in the forums, and tried a few of them, but I didn’t want to make too many changes without asking myself.
I’m relatively new to Event Espresso (taking over admin of site from previous admin).
Thanks
Jim

Hi Jim,

It is odd that MER has stopped emails from going out, that should not be the case.

Have you tried de-activating MR and seeing if the emails resume or not?

Were their any other updates to the theme, plugins or server around the same time?

Thanks Dean,
I tried de-activating MER and re-sending the email, still nothing.
and then re-activated MER; no emails.

A few days before installing MER, I had updated EE to 3.1.35P. When I installed MER, i had renamed the templates folder under wp-content/uploads/espresso/ , per the instructions in a forum post because i was not seeing the multiple events.
Do i need to rename that back? I did notice there is a /css folder in the old /templates, perhaps something from there is needed?
thanks,
Jim

If you go to an attendee’s edit payment screen in the admin, are you able to send and receive the Invoice/Payment Reminder email? (use a test registration, so you have access to the email inbox that the email is sent to) I would start there, since it’s a clean, simple call to the mail functionality that is easy to control.

Hi Sidney,
No email received when I sent Invoice/Payment Reminder either. The events I have set up are test right now, so I can create attendees as needed.
Thank you.

That is strange, because like Sidney said, its a straightforward email call. Are you receiving email from any other plugins or WordPress itself? You could try a plugin such as Check Email – http://wordpress.org/plugins/check-email/ just to make sure.

Alternatively or as well as, you could create a new user with a secondary email of yours and select the ” Send this password to the new user by email. ” option to see if the email arrives.

If these emails are received, let us know.

If not, then it looks like the server is having email issues. You may wish to contact your host, try the WP Mail SMTP plugin or a third party service such as Mandrill or Postmarkapp.

Hi Dean,
When I install the email check plugin and attempt to activate, I receive this ‘fatal error’
Fatal error: Cannot redeclare checkemail() (previously declared in /home/content/f/o/m/fomadm/html/wp-content/plugins/eshop/cart-functions.php:628) in /home/content/f/o/m/fomadm/html/wp-content/plugins/check-email/check-email.php on line 171

we do have eShop installed and I have checked in there, emails are not being sent from there as well.
thanks
Jim

OK, so it sounds like it is something fundamental rather than Event Espresso related.

I would suggest fully troubleshooting (deactivate all plugins and swap to a default theme like TwentyTwelve) and try the check email plugin. If it isnt working then you have a server problem.

If it works, bring things back online one by one, starting with the theme, and checlk the email each time, to see if there is a culprit out there.

Thanks Dean. We’re using the TwentyTen theme, but I’ll try the troubleshooting steps suggested. Thanks for your time/patience.

Thanks again for your help. I re-applied the WordPress 3.6.1 upgrade to my site, and then re-activated each of the Event Espresso plug-ins one by one, testing email after each one and emails are now working again! Very odd as to why they stopped, but the quick responses are much appreciated!
thanks,
Jim
