I am new to event espresso and frankly, very frustrated with your method of support. Instead of ranting, I simply want to know how to add a series of items that would allow users to purchase meal plans and t-shirts during the registration process. Firstly, CAN this be done, and if yes, HOW CAN it be done?

Sorry if you have found difficulty with support, we do try our hardest to provide the best support possible.
Getting constructive feedback about things like this is always welcome, and helps us to find areas where we can do better and improve them, so please let us know what you found frustrating.
Regarding your issue at hand, there is nothing in the default plugin to do this, but we do have an addon plugin that can enable it, called the Price Modifier plugin.
This is available from the Pre Release section of your account page.

Please note that currently the Price Modifier does not integrate with the Multiple Event Registration plugin.
