Hi,

I’m getting the same error as many people have gotten after updating to EE Version 3.1.36.5.P and WP version 3.9.1. I’m not running any caching plugins, and I believe I’ve narrowed it down to the registration_page.php file in uploads/espresso/templates

I’d like to keep the formatting the same as before the update. Is there anything in particular that is causing this problem the I can update in our template files? A dummy course is on our staging site at http://trendyreader.com/cbiatesting/course-registration/?ee=47

Thanks!

Hi,

Yes it is most likely the modified templates. The best thing to do here is to rename the /wp-content/uploads/espresso/templates folder temporarily.

This will force the plugin to use the default templates.

Then you will need to look at the new templates compared to the old ones to find any appropriate changes. Often the changes are minor, but you have modified a wide variety of files so it could be in any one of them.

If you can advise what version you were using prior to the upgrade I can send you a copy of that should you need it (old copies are not stored on the account page).

The idea is that updates aren’t supposed to affect the customized template files right? I’ve pinpointed the issue to registration_page.php or registration_page_display.php

I am updating from 3.1.20. Ideally, you could identify the change in the template file that is required to not break the plugin so that I don’t have to go back and redo all the customizations. Failing that, I have the 3.1.20 files so I can compare changes and edit and test the new template files line-by-line.

Hi,

“The idea is that updates aren’t supposed to affect the customized template files right?”

Not quite, the idea is that the updates don’t delete your modified code. Meaning it is easier to change things to match the latest templates.

“Ideally, you could identify the change in the template file that is required to not break the plugin so that I don’t have to go back and redo all the customizations.”

We try not to change the templates too often as it causes people headaches, but 3.1.20 to 3.1.36.5 is quite a jump so the templates will definitely be different, possibly drastically so (3.1.20 is 2 years old now).

I would recommend using something like http://www.diffchecker.com/ or https://sourcegear.com/diffmerge/
