This may not belong to this forum, but I would like to request a new feature. I would like to be able to use 2 domain names for one license: One URL for production and one URL for non-production environment. From your perspective the non-production environment would be a white list of domain recognized as non-production URL. For example, I’m hosting my web site with WP Engine, their staging environment is basically <your custom name>.staging.wpengine.com. You could accommodate all WP Engine customers by having 1 entry in your white list: *.staging.wpengine.com

Thank you,

Jake

Hi Jake,

Thanks for the feedback, I will certainly make a note of it. As it stands we advise to simply not use the licence key on the staging/development site. It does mean you wont get the one click updates so will have to manually update, but other than that it will not affect how the plugin works.

Is the manual update the following sequence or is there more to it?

– Deactivate the current plugin

– Delete the current plugin

– Upload the new version plugin

– Activate

Yes, the only thing you missed is to back up your system. Generally its not required as the data isn’t touched on update, however it is a good practice, because if something were to go wrong you have a way to roll back. I even recommend backing up before using the auto updates, call me over cautious!
